Rick and Paul Neilsen, founders of the surf empire Brothers Neilsen Est 1971. This iconic brand was part of the growth of surf culture and style for over three decades, right in our own backyard in the Gold Coast, with Rick shaping and Paul glassing as they began as a humble family business. Paul Neilsen surfed among the same echelons as Michael Peterson and Wayne Bartholomew, winning local and Australian Open titles, while leading the way for Australian surfers with his fearless charging and tubing techniques winning the Hawaiian Smirnoff Pro in 1972. Paul went on to be appointed in 1982 as Australia’s first National Coach to train Australian World Teams and inducted in 2004 into the Surfing Australia Hall of Fame.
