Emily Rose is a visual artist based in Burleigh Heads, recipient of the 2022 Swell Sculpture People's Choice Award and Jennie Neumann's Emerging Artist Award, and the co-founder of Mint Art House (est 2019), an art co-operative housing up to 14 artists.

Emily’s artwork predominantly explores our relationship with the natural environment, and is influenced by her love of our world-class coastal landscape. A persistent desire to connect with, protect and respect nature remains the heart of her creations.

Emily was born and raised on the Gold Coast, completing her BA/BEd at the University of Queensland, St Lucia 2016. From the age of six, Emily was formatively mentored under the same traditional oil painting master as Michael Zavros, going on to practise predominantly in drawing media and later pyrography.

Emily first formally exhibited in 2018 at SoFA Gallery in Currumbin before joining Dean Cogle, Dion Parker and Andrew Cullen there as a resident artist. Emily went on in 2019 to become a founding member of Mint Art House cooperative with seven other creatives.

Emily has since exhibited artworks in the Gold Coast Level Up Gallery (2019, 2021), the Tweed Regional Gallery Border Prize (2020), Dust Temple (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), and the This Is Art “Arcana” exhibition (2021) where her original pyrographic work ‘Koala Park’ was personally acquired by Baz Lurhmann.

Emily’s 2021 inaugural solo exhibition “Legends of the Surf” raised thousands for three local conservation and mental health organisations through the auction of 15 original portraits with permission of Gold Coast’s most celebrated surf icons, who she wished to honour and highlight for their historic influence in the development of surf culture locally and internationally.

This focus took a new turn with her entry 'Ne Plus Ultra' (2022) which featured in the 20th anniversary of the much beloved Swell Sculpture Festival in Currumbin, bringing together her passion for our coastal environment and what we can learn from our past.
